Ridstar Q20 2000W Controller

Is your Ridstar Q20 Pro showing error codes, cutting out under load, or refusing to move? The issue is often the motor controller. We stock both versions of the Ridstar Q20 1500W 2000W dual motor controller to match your bike’s production date.

We ensure you get the exact match for your setup:

  • Independent Ridstar Q20 Pro Controller (Pre-April 2024): Two identical motor controller for the front hub and one for the rear.
  • Integrated Ridstar Q20 1500W Controller (Post-April 2024): A single, compact unit with two separate motor cables. Simplify wiring and often more reliable.

Ridstar Q20 Pro 2000W Motor Controller Features

  • True Dual-Motor Control: Independently manages each 1000W nominal (2000W peak) motor.
  • Matched Connectors: Includes the specific 9-pin or 10-pin connectors used on Ride star ebike harnesses.
  • Underspeed Governor Ready: Unlock the full 35-37 mph top speed when paired with a correctly configured display.
  • Heat-Dissipating Case: Aluminum housing helps prevent thermal shutdown during long climbs.

Ridstar 2000W Electric Bike FAQ

When to Replace Your Ridstar Q20 2000w Controller?

  • Error 06 / 07: Often indicates a controller failure or a severe phase wire short. If the motor is fine (tested by swapping connections), the controller is likely fried.
  • Error 08: A throttle voltage error can sometimes be caused by a controller that is not sending the correct 5V reference signal.
  • Error 21: A communication error between the display and controller. If the display cable is fine, the controller’s internal comms chip may be dead.

My Ridstar motor cable or controller connector is burnt/melted. What happened?

This is a classic sign of high resistance leading to heat buildup. If the connector was loose or dirty, it created resistance. The resulting heat melts the plastic and can destroy the pins.

  • The Fix: You must replace both the controller and the motor cable (or the entire motor wiring harness). Simply replacing one side will leave you with a melted connector that won’t mate securely.

One of my Ridstar Q20 Pro motors stopped working. Is it the motor or the controller?

Diagnostic Test:

  1. Swap the Ridstar Q20 controller connections. If your bike uses separate controllers (pre-4/24), unplug the “dead” motor from its controller and plug it into the controller of the working motor.
  2. If the ridstar 1500w motor now works: The problem is the original ridstar controller.
  3. If the ridstar pro motor still doesn’t work: The problem is the motor itself (or its internal wiring).

(For integrated Ridstar Q20 Pro controller, you cannot swap, but you can test the voltage output at the cable with a multimeter.)

My Ridstar Q20 2000w bike cuts power randomly or feels jerky?

Intermittent power loss can be a failing ridstar q 20 pro controller. When the internal MOSFETs (transistors) start to fail, they can overheat and shut down. If the bike works fine when cold but cuts out after 5-10 minutes of hard riding, the controller is likely the culprit.

  1. Eric Johnson –

Finding Ridstar replacement parts is surprisingly difficult. Even the official website wouldn’t process my order because my bike came from Walmart Marketplace. Really happy I found this store.
