You can increase the Ridstar Q20’s speed in two main ways — unlocking the speed limiter and upgrading components.
Unlock the Speed Limit (P08 Setting):
Turn on the display.
Press and hold the Up and Down buttons together to enter the settings menu.
Press M to cycle to P08.
Change the value to 100 to remove the speed limit.
Hold Up and Down again to save and exit.
Optional Upgrades:
Upgrade the battery: Switching to a 52V battery can boost power and torque. (Check compatibility first!)
Upgrade motor and controller: Higher top speed needs more powerful heart — but note that it may stress other components (Ridstar Q20 Controller Wiring Diagram).
Fuse adjustment: Some users suggest changing the fuse from 50A to 60A to handle higher current, but do so with caution.
Adjust P6 setting: Increase P6 to 30 for a small speed improvement on certain displays.
The recommended tire pressure for the Ridstar Q20 Pro with 20×4-inch fat tires is 20–30 PSI, depending on your riding terrain and rider weight.
25–30 PSI: Best for city streets, paved roads, and commuting.
20–25 PSI: Ideal for gravel, dirt roads, and light off-road trails.
12–18 PSI: Recommended for sand, snow, and loose terrain to maximize traction.
Heavier riders or those carrying cargo should run slightly higher tire pressure within the recommended range. For safety and optimal performance, always follow the maximum PSI printed on your tire sidewall. This helps improve handling, extend tire life, and keep your Ridstar Q20 Pro riding safely and efficiently.
The Ridstar Q20 is 46 inches (117 cm) tall from the ground to the top of the handlebars. It is designed to fit riders between 5’4″ and 6’2″ (163–188 cm).
The legality of the Ridstar Q20 varies by region and motor power. In most countries (including the U.S. and EU), e-bikes over 750W or exceeding 28 mph are classified as mopeds or electric motorcycles, not bicycles. That means if your Q20:
Has a motor over 750W, or
Reaches speeds above 28 mph (45 km/h),
it may require registration, a license, and insurance to be road legal. Always check your local e-bike laws before riding on public roads.
Yes but it’s risky. A 52V battery gives the Ridstar Q20 1500W more speed and torque, but it can damage the controller, motor, or display if they aren’t rated for higher voltage.
Before upgrading, check your original Ridstar Q20 controller max voltage (must support at least 60V), ensure your Q20 display and charger are 52V-compatible, and confirm Ridestar Q20 motor version.
